Study; 75% of us use web based tools in their work but think 41% peers is using the same tools... --> we don't share efficiently yet, peers don't find each other.
example of cool tools: Accenture has an internal "youtube-lookalike"podcasting platform built on Sharepoint. Good news, so does TietoEnator (way to go DF! =)
How to transfer the motivation seen in social media tools to the corporates? Mr Black: Let them do it freely... . E.g. Sharepoint sites' usage should be set free.
.... But before setting it free we should monitor the collaboration and team work and create the coordination guidelines along that. (coordination not control)
Case from Norway: all the data was put to the same container, that way they started to outline how to manage it. Metadata is collected through the process.
--> It seems cats cannot be tamed or put to boxes, but they can be "guided a bit". The same way human beings (info workers) will do what they see the best. Case company uses (surprise surprise) FAST Search, from Norway as well.
IBM guys demonstrate the new WebSphere portal, e.g. connections to Google gadgets, AJAX and REST support, and all that was working like you work.... Wow... "Exceptional user experience" they say, and darn they DO surprise. "Portal" used to be a bad word, until this morning. I got a introduction to blueKiwi last night, looking really good, like a "dream son-in-law", but it seems also old dogs learn new tricks. Way to go IBM.
... it seems mash-ups keep on showing new positive sides, you just need to find A) suitable/biz-wise content and B) good demonstrator and C) let the surprise you =)

Professor TB: Google generation is reading less, dumping down, skim reading - true, but we all are acting like that, not only the Google generation.

Prof TB: With google generation, don't get stuck with the content management, but concentrate on motivating and context management.

Prof TB: facebook is great but we need to teach google generation to read, write and create.

Ian Black from Autonomy (the search that can index video and audio files) speaks about "creativity vs chaos", "what is the right mix?"

CASE: How Norwegian public road administrator (Statens Vegnesen) "tamed the cats", gave power to ext/internal users, to store & share information.

Ah... Gartner's "Portal governance matrix" kicks. Simple matrix but seems to include the essential groups and functions.
